Obituary: Montyne McMillan

McMillanMontyne McMillan of Hampton Cove, Ala., died Sept. 17 in Huntsville, Ala. She was the wife of Harold McMillan.

She was the youngest of three children born to John Henry Day and Vera Armstrong Day. She attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She started a wartime job with the federal government in Birmingham and later was employed with the government department in charge of the disposition of military equipment. Montyne and Harold were married in 1948.

Montyne was a resident of Huntsville for 55 years. She owned the Nettlecreek Interiors design studio for many years and was an accomplished flower designer. Her interests included synchronized swimming, Girl Scouts, her local PTA and Woman’s Club, the Toast Mistress Club and the Monte Sano Garden Club. She was a member of the Monte Sano Methodist Church. Montyne and Harold celebrated their 61st anniversary on September 11.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Dr. Michael McMillan and his wife Staci of Boca Grande, daughters Jaquelyn Cissell and her husband Michael of Asheville, N.C., and Deborah Berzins and husband George of Venice. She is also survived by a grandson, Alex Berzins.
