Gasparilla Inn open house

The Gasparilla Inn and Club will be holding its annual open house on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m., and all Boca Grande residents and visitors who have never taken a tour of the historic building are encouraged to stop by.

This will be the fourth annual community open house held by the Inn on the night before its grand opening on October 22.

Jack Damioli, the Inn’s general manager and president, said that while there are some changes that frequent visitors would notice, the highlight of the tour will be Master Chef Peter Timmins.

“We are very proud to introduce Peter to the community,” he said. “We’ll be having tastings, and everyone will get a chance to meet him as well as Simon Pound, our new main dining room manager. It will give everyone a chance to sample hors d’oeuvres and other things he’s been putting together. We’ve also been working hard on some of the rooms, with new bedding and renovated bathrooms. We’re just happy to show off the Inn to the community.”

Damioli said that visitors will receive information about the Inn and its amenities that are available to the public, such as the Main Dining Room, the Pink Elephant or he Outlet Restaurant at the Innlet, as well as about special catering, event services, the Inn Marina and details about club memberships.

Back by popular demand is the “behind-the-scenes” tour of the Inn’s expansive Main Kitchen, along with a few new surprises.

The Gasparilla Inn and Club was built in 1913, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also a member of Historic Hotels of America.
