Boca Grande Invitational Croquet Tournament

The Gasparilla Mallet Club and Boca Bay Croquet Club cordially invite you to play in the eighth annual Boca Grande Invitational Croquet Tournament, starting Friday, March 12, through Sunday, March 14.

This will be a U.S.C.A. sanctioned event consisting of Singles Only in three flights (Championship, First Flight, and Second Flight) and promises to be a challenging and fun-filled three days of competition on three lawns at The Gasparilla Inn & Club and one lawn at the Boca Bay Croquet Club. The tournament director will be Fred Jones and he will place participants in flights according to their official handicaps. Participants (all flights on all four lawns) will be limited to 32 players.

The Mallet Club and Croquet Club lawns will be available for practice on Thursday, March 11 from noon to 5 p.m. The opening reception will be held at the Gasparilla Mallet Club clubhouse from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Tournament schedules will be available at the reception. Casual dress including croquet whites expected.

Tournament play begins on Friday, March 12. Morning coffee, and lunches on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be provided by the Gasparilla Inn. On Friday a plated dinner with wine and a cash bar will be held at the Gasparilla Inn in the historic Pelican Room at 6:30 p.m. Resort casual dress required (jacket for men, tie optional).

Following tournament play on Saturday, March 13, there will be an open bar cocktail reception with “hot hors d’oeuvres” at the Boca Bay Beach Club overlooking the Gulf from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to enjoy the beach views and Gulf sunset. Dinner that evening is open allowing you to enjoy the interesting and varied restaurants of Boca Grande. On Sunday, March 14, the Gasparilla Inn will cater the Awards Luncheon in the Pelican Room, directly following the concluding Championship Play.

The entry fee for this event is $350. Non-player guests are welcome, but must be indicated in advance so accommodations can be made. Guest fees are $200. RSVP by January 30 to Blaine Davis. Assignment is honored on a “first come” basis.
