Obituary: Katherine Buchanan

Katherine Hamilton Buchanan, 91, of Lake Forest, Ill. and Boca Grande passed away January 17. She was born November 11, 1918 in Milwaukee, Wis.

Mrs. Buchanan was a member of the Lake Forest Garden Club, the Antiquarian Society of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Church of the Holy Spirit, Lake Forest, Ill. and St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Boca Grande. She also served on the Women’s Board at Rush University Medical Center and Children’s Memorial Hospital as well as the Guild of the Chicago Historical Society.

Mrs. Buchanan was preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt W. Buchanan Jr., and son Dewitt W. Buchanan III.

She is survived by her children Katherine Reed Berkey and Kenneth H. Buchanan and her grandchildren John A. Berkey, Mackenzie M. Buchanan, Perrin Berkey Martin and Margaux Buchanan Monahan.

A memorial service will be held  at 11 a.m. February 13 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 400 East Westminster Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045.
