Misty Nabers and Nat Italiano are hoping that those who love Boca Grande for its beauty will help to keep it clean when the Gasparilla Island Conservation and Improvement Association and Italiano Insurance sponsor the next Island-Wide Clean-Up on Saturday, Feb. 27.
“We want volunteers!” Nabers said. “It’s time to show our appreciation for our beautiful island home once again by joining together with our neighbors to keep Boca Grande in top shape.”
Nabers, the executive director of the GICIA, said they will be providing the trash bags and cold water, as well as coffee and donuts. As if that weren’t enough incentive, T-shirts with a “fun, unique” design printed on them will also be given out.
To participate, come to the Community House parking lot between 7:30 and 11 a.m. that Saturday morning to accept an assigned area for clean-up.
“You’ll need to supply your own gloves if you chose to use them,” Nabers said. “Please come out, get a fabulous T-shirt and help pick-up any trash that has accumulated since the April 2009 clean-up. Soda cans, beer bottles, food wrappers, and cigarette butts are just part of the trash that has been discarded along the walkways and streets of Boca Grande. We depend on our volunteers to assist us in keeping our community looking great.”
All trash should be returned to the Community House parking area by noon for removal by Brook’s Hauling. For additional information contact the GICIA office at 964-2667.
