I wished I could have been there to hear the history of my family. One of which I am now constructing for my grandson age 4.I have tracked The Padilla family from Seville, Spain.I have enriched my children as well as my grandson with the stories passed down to me by my Aunt and my Father whom was born a Padilla. The more I search into our back ground the more excited I get. I too can say there was no Pirates in our family tree. That is a false hood ( fishermen yes, Pirates No) and I am glad that is cleared up. However the family name is from Spain which means frying pan. I do know that the Padilla's had left Spain with the Sanchez families. I have still yet to dig further into our history.

I was privileged to attend the History Byte on Wednesday. Being the daughter of Myrtle Padilla, I was born and raised on the South end of Gasparilla Island. Being one of 6 children of Myrtle and our dad Angelo Bell, I am ever grateful that all of us 6 sibs are still living and in pretty good health. I attribute this to the many hours our mother, who died only 2 years ago at the age of 96, spent on her knees. I am grateful for our heritage and really appreciated seeing our relatives this week. We are all so blessed. Ardys Bell Clawson P.S. A big thank you to Robert, Roberta and Kim for all the time they put into these functions, and to those attending who are so interested in the history of our beautiful island.
