Growing up on Boca Grande and having a mother who worked most of her life at Fugates I used to here about the sports car driver known as Sam. He was the first person I ever saw jog on boca. Why? Because he was training for his grand prix races. Sam first came to the island well after my parents and others were already here, but was here as a child who came down in a passenger train in the fortys with his family. Am glad he still comes down and enjoys the island as others in his family still do and own. Please keep staying Sam.

Hello Sam I have no dount that you do not remember me, but back in thew early 70s I raced a SCCA, Trans-Am and IMSA Camaro in The Northeast. I can well recall the aft end of your BMW and other cars you raced. You were always ahead of me!! Well ahead. Repeatedly. We have a few mutual friends, Paul Petty (sp?) and a few others. I had the great pleasure of meeting you at Lime Rock and a few other courses. I now have the great pleasure of hearing your commentaries on SpeedTV. And, I have read "The Mudge Pond Express" numerous times. Briliant!! Now approaching my 70th years I find that I recall many fond memories. Racing is one that is quite prominent. I wish you all possible happiness and good health. We all wish for that, eh? If you ever head out to the midwest, SW Nebraska, you are more than welcome to be a guest in my quite humble home. Perhaps, share a meal in a towm of 1200. I'll evben pick up the tab!! (a rare event) Thank you for providing me, and many others with some very spirited racing and being a general "Damn Nice Guy".
