Oh yeah, the video you refer to was suddenly taken off Youtube as soon as I pointed out the jeering and wishful intentions of those in the camera boats that the fish died, just to prove their point. So no, there was no compassion expressed or actions by the protesters to aid in reviving the fish. No, I wasn't there, but if I was I would have been in the water helping those guys revive the fish as I have done countless times in the past. But that's just me.

I only know what I see in the video presented to everyone who wasn't there as photographic evidence of a kill. A week later there is not one photo of a dead fish representative of the "slaughter" casued by this tournament. The video showed nothing but the lengthy and heroic efforts of the release crew. That you paint it as being something else in the commentary , does not change the imagry or make the fish dead. Dr. Guindon is more commonly refered to by most involved as the Tarpon Lady.

Gary, the people shooting the video had reason to believe the tarpon was already dead. That's because it looked dead, acted dead and, most probably, was dead. The people pretending to revive a dead tarpon managed to look foolish all by themselves without any outside help. But the protesters were doing something. They were praying for the fish. Which is the only known way to raise the dead. Why aren't you bashing the DEP cop for not helping? Also, you weren't there. You have no clue whether this fish was dead, alive or taking a nap. I was on the beach. I'm afraid I have some bad news. That tarpon was as dead as Elvis.

Florida Park Police were there too, in a boat even. But I bet you still saw boats on the beach after the tourney. Technically, no boats are allowed to pull up go the beach in a state park, unless they paid $125 just for a sticker to be allowed to do so. Therefore, every boat without that sticker was trespassing on State Park property. How many did you see? Pass that on to your almighty State Park Manager

They only have one Phd., Dr. Guinden. The study group is fishermen not FWC staff, just to keep it honest. A better question would be with all the protesters in attendance, why was it more important to film the alleged concealment of a "dead" fish than get in the water to aid with its resuscitation? Fear of sharks? A better question would be with all the protesters in attendence, why was it mor important to film the alledged concealment of a "dead" fish than get in the water to aid with its resusitation?

This has nothing to do with the jig! The effort is aimed at making Boca Grande Pass a catch and release tarpon fishery. Or, in the alternative, tarpon a catch and release species. The PTTS is a capture tournament. That's the only reason the protesters were there. That's the reason for the sponsor boycott. It's working. If PTTS goes catch and release, no protests, no signs, no sponsor boycott.

Can someone tell me why, if the Tarpon Genetic Recapture Study is so important to the FWC, with so many officers out in the Pass on Sunday, why wasn't the FWC DNA swabbing the tarpon on the "professional release" boats? Would that not been a prime time for them to collect DNA samples for their project? Has the FWC made a comment on that? They would like our participation in the project, but saw no need to be on hand to swab the fish themselves when the tarpon were being "delivered" to them? I thought they had an established and open relationship with the PTTS - they certainly had enough FWC coverage - and even had some of their Ph.D.s available Saturday in the Pass - why not at the weigh sling? Thoughts?
