I jig fish and live bait and personally have snagged a tarpon live baiting. I do not agree with dragging the fish to the weigh boat during the tarpon tournaments but quite frankly, fishing is fishing. Some of you need some education on this topic.

Knowing what we know today, I am not sure why anyone would admit to jig fishing. This pracice is simply extremely disrespectful to the Tarpon, Pass, and Boca Grande. It is unbelievable that this lack of sportmanship is still tolerated. By the way Kevin, those "pros" cutting you off are most likely jiggers too.

Capt. Tom, I have never met you. However, I do hope to fish with you sometime soon. I would like to spend some time with you based on both your correct appraisal of the Tarpon situation, and your very thorough commentary. People who jig fish simply don't care anything about Boca Grande, The Pass, and are certainly not sportsmen!

I JIG FISH FISH THE PASS DURING THE TARPON RUN. I AM A LOCAL CAPE HAZE RESIDENT AND I AM GETTING TIRED OF ALL THE "PRO" FISHING CAPTAINS CHASING THE FISH ALL OVER THE PASS. THEY COME SO CLOSE TO MY BOAT I COULD TELL YOU WHAT THEY ATE FOR BREAKFAST. I DON'T MIND JIG FISHING, BUT CHASING THE SCHOOLS SHOULD BE OUTLAWED IN THE PASS. THE DRIFT SHOULD BE MANDATED, WITH THE BOATS GOING BACK AROUND TO DRIFT AGAIN AND NOT PASSING YOU TWO FEET TO EITHER SIDE OF YOUR BOAT. I KNOW MANY LOCAL FISHERMAN WHO WILL NOT GO OUT THERE FISHING ANYMORE BECAUSE THEY FEEL IT IS "TOO DANGEROUS AND CRAZY". I TEND TO AGREE. LET'S CHANGE THE RULES....
