Who will win these trophies in the World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament of 2012? The first place trophy will go to the team leader, and each of the second-place-team members will receive plaques. Both were created by J.W. Wells Trophies. The winning team will also receive silver rings created and donated by Barbara Anne’s Jewelry.  
 

Don’t forget, of course, the winning purse worth tens of thousands of dollars.

The Boca Grande Art Alliance is preparing for the First Annual Memorial Day Weekend Art Show, displaying the talents of many of Gasparilla Island’s year-round residents.

The show will feature paintings, glass, jewelry and pottery by island artists, and will be held at the Art Alliance facilities at Park Ave. and Banyan Street.

If you haven’t yet yeard about the Boca Grande reunions that have been taking place in the last three years, and you grew up in Boca Grande or spent a lot of time here, it might be an event worth checking out.

BY LIZA STROUT - Between the excitement of bridges being built at the north end and tarpon fishing in the Pass, it is easy for some things to slip between the cracks here on Gasparilla Island. That has not happened with the seawall owned by the Florida Park Service along the Gulf of Mexico at the Boca Bay Pass Club, though.
