FWC break-away jig study refuted by originating scientist Friday, 17 May 2013 10:06 BY MARCY SHORTUSE - In the summer of 2004 Dr. Justin Grubich picked up the phone to take a call from a woman who said she was with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The woman, Kathy Guindon, talked with Justin for about 30 minutes foul-hooking tarpon, and he was asked to provide expert witness testimony on how tarpon feed. Are you ready for some spaghetti?

On Sunday, Feb. 19, an island favorite will return with all-you-can-eat spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and dessert.
The victuals will be offered from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids.
All proceeds go to the Student Scholarship Fund.
Dinner is served at the Louise duPont Crowninshield House, located at 131 Banyan St.

Want a bridge named after you? How about a whole causeway?

STAFF REPORT - If you’re looking for a way to memorialize your family name, or a particular loved one, you might consider naming rights to one of the Boca Grande Causeway bridges.
Or, perhaps, the whole causeway.
The Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority board members are seeking interested parties who might seriously be interested in donating money to the bridge replacement cause in exchange for naming rights.

Dr. Holly Thacker will be giving a lecture on the topic of women’s health, titled “Be Strong, Be Healthy, and Be in Charge.”
