The Lee County medical examiner has ruled that the cause of death of a 48-year-old Sarasota woman at Cabbage Key this weekend was natural.
According to Lee County Sheriff’s reports, on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 3:03 a.m. deputies were called to the Cabbage Key Inn on Cabbage Key to investigate a sudden death. When deputies arrived they found Carrie Burrows, 48, of Sarasota dead from unknown causes. Her husband, Thomas Burrows, reported the death and told deputies he administered CPR prior to the paramedics’ arrival.
In his report the deputy says that Thomas told them that Carrie was not feeling well after they checked in at the Inn at approximately 2 p.m. At approximately 2:45 a.m. that night Thomas said he realized his wife was not breathing right and notified 911. The 911 operator gave Thomas instructions on the phone until Useppa Fire arrived on scene. Carrie Burrows was pronounced dead on scene at 4:36 a.m., and she was taken to the Lee County Medical Examiner’s office.
This week the medical examiner made the determination that Burrows died of natural causes.
