On Tuesday, Oct. 25 take a step back in time to the early days of Gasparilla Island and its fishermen with Capt. Freddie Futch. He will be speaking at a discussion held at the Green Street Church in Englewood, 416 W. Green St., at 7 p.m.
Capt. Freddie Futch’s family settled on Gasparilla Island at the turn of the 20th century and Capt. Futch spent his early years there from 1933 to 1942. After serving in WWII, he returned “home” and for 38 years was well known as one of the best fishing captains and guides around the island.
The meeting is open to the public.
