Golf Scramble successful, even on a rainy day

Approximately 70 golfers played 18 holes on the Gasparilla Inn & Club’s Pete Dye-designed golf course on Monday, Oct. 17 for the annual Boca Grande Chamber of Commerce Fall Golf Scramble.

Winners of the event were Glenn Price, Dustin Rossow, Jeff Corkhill and Matt Reytkemmer, who took first place 2nd Flight. Randy Porter, Brian Baksa, Dick Yusk and Blake Yusk took first place 1st Flight and Alex Moore, Trent Tatum and Scott Allen took first place in the Championship Flight.

Wind and a constant rain did not discourage participants from showing their support for the scholarship fund that has helped many area students get a headstart on their college careers for the last six years.

Chamber Director Lew Hastings called those who played the rainy, gray day a group of “truly dedicated players.”
