There are some “big deals” in the cards for the BGDBC next season. The opening week of the season is action packed, and so is the new season.

Three events will be taking place on Wednesday, Nov. 2. At 9:30 a.m., Marietta Huggard will lead her popular Relaxed Duplicate lessons and play, featuring the topic, Opening Leads. At 1 p.m., the new electronic scoring devices will be initiated at the first regularly scheduled sanctioned duplicate game.

The 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. sessions will be held as usual at the United Methodist Church. That evening at 6:30 p.m., all BGDBC members are invited to a kick-off cocktail party at the Whipple’s house on Shore Lane.
On Thursday and Friday, Nov. 3 and 4, world-renowned bridge expert, Larry Cohen, will hold his all-day seminars. These events are sold out, but you may add your name to the waiting list via the club’s website, BGDBC.org.

Monday, Nov. 7 features Marietta Huggard’s season-long lessons for Tweeners. These classess are aimed at novice players, or those with some experience who wish to brush up before joining the regular duplicate games. Relaxed duplicate bridge will be played following the lessons.

Tweeners will meet at the Chapter House of the Episcopal Church from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Also on Monday, the regularly-scheduled sanctioned duplicate game starts at 1 p.m. at the Methodist Church, and will continue there throughout the season.

Tuesday, Nov. 8 heralds the debut of Marietta’s Intermediate and Advanced lessons. This four-week course will meet at the Episcopal Church’s Chapter House at 2 p.m.
For more information or for game and lesson reservations, see the website, bgdbc.org, or call (888) 407-2622.

STOP THE PRESS! A pre-season game will be taking place on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at the Episcopal Church Chapter House at 1 p.m. This is a sanctioned, masterpoint game and will be the club’s trial run of the new scoring machines. We would love a “full house,” so please e-mail your reservation or call as soon as possible.
