Historic board approves fence on 17th Street

Members of the Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board met briefly on Wednesday, Nov. 2 to discuss a new fence for the Webb home on West 17th Street.

Along this primarily rectangular-shaped property is an 80-foot long wooden fence which stands 6 to 7 feet tall. The proposal would have that fence removed and replace it with a 6-foot high wall with a textured cement finish.

Also included in the proposal is a set of wooden gates to close off the driveway, as well as a single wooden gate on the east side of the house.

Petitioner and wall designer Jim Scott believes it is a well-thought-out project, and the Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board agreed. All were in favor of granting zoning relief for this project and construction should begin soon.

It has not yet been determined whether the board will meet next month.
