On Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. you can get a jump start on the season at the Boca Grande Garden Club’s first workshop, to be held at Native Gardens.

Plant for your entrance, terrace, or lanai, for sun or shade, or for indoors or out. Bring your own pot or buy a new one from Native Gardens. Advice and hands-on planting will be provided by Tex Davis. The cost to club members will include only what you purchase: plants, pots, soil, etc. Non-members may attend on a space available basis for a fee of $10 plus cost of materials. You must sign up in advance with Christian Scott-Hansen at MCScottha@aol.com, or call 964-4430. You must be registered to attend, as attendance is limited to the first 10 people who sign up, with preferential reservations for club members.
On Thursday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m., Garden Club member Georgia McGurl will be teaching a class in “Arranging Flowers Under Water” at the Johann Fust Library Loggia. The cost to members is $20, and to non-members on a space-available basis is $30. Checks should be mailed to Christian Scott-Hansen at POB 936, Boca Grande, with the notation “December 8 Workshop” to reserve a space. Please include your phone number so that you may be contacted regarding your reservation.

The first regular meeting of the Garden Club will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Boca Grande Community Center, when the speaker will be Mickey Carnell of Blue Pagoda Orchids in Englewood who will speak on “Orchids, Orchids and More.”

The program is free to members and available to guests for a fee of $25.

Membership in the Garden Club is open on a first-come, first served basis for an annual fee of $50, and dues for the season must be paid prior to attending any meeting as a member. If you are interested in joining, please call Treasurer Doe Flannery at 964-1483 or mail your check, made payable to the Boca Grande Garden Club, to POB 1246, Boca Grande, 33921.
