Bocaween has come and gone, but the memories from 2011 will definitely live on.
This year the weather cleared just in time for the Boca Grande Community Center Halloween Carnival and the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce Halloween Walk to be held, and the streets and grounds of the Community Center were loaded with witches, ghouls, ghosts, goblins and other random entities.
While most costume contest winners were named only by number (due to fairness and privacy issues), some did stand out in the crowd. Charlotte Chatham, “The Little Mermaid,” took a prize for “Most Aquatic,” Andy Roman took a prize for his creepy and stunning performance as a double-sided, two-faced creature in the “Most Acrobatic” category, Shelby Lawrence got a ribbon for her raccoon costume (“Cutest Animal”), and Eirinn Shortuse the little witch got a prize for “Scariest” in her age group. Marcella Wood took a prize for “Most Creative” for her Cleopatra costume.
In the “group” category, the Parent family of Boca Grande took a prize for their legendary super hero costumes. In all, J.R. and his wife, Maren, have six children, truly making them the “Super Parents.”
Other group winners were Tallulah Newlin, Clara Marra and Lilia Souza as the “Nerdiest” group.
