Gasparilla Island Tennis Classic returns in January

The Gasparilla Island Tennis Classic will begin in a little over a month’s time, but now is the time to get your entries in for play.

Sponsored by the Boca Beacon and hosted by the Boca Bay Pass Club, the Gasparilla Inn Tennis Club and the Boca Grande Club, the tournament has become an island tradition for many players.

Open mixed doubles, 70+ mixed doubles, mens’ singles and ladies’ singles will be played from January 29 through February 4.

Men’s open doubles, ladies’ open doubles, men’s 70+ doubles and ladies’ 70+ doubles will be played from February 5 through 11.

The entry fee is $25 per player.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves to play tennis,” said Beacon publisher  Dusty Hopkins. “You can get to play with people that you have not played with before in a  relaxing, yet competitive atmosphere.”
