Fone has16 trips to China (including two in 2011) under his belt as a film-maker, and looks forward to another lively discussion with Boca Grande residents and visitors.
Last April Fone returned to Ping Wei and visited the orphanage where his older daughter, Olivia, spent the first ten months of her life.
“With a generous donation from an extremely kind benefactor we were able to donate heating units to the Huainan Social Welfare Institute so the children will be warm during the winter,” he said.
Fone and his family have been visiting Boca Grande for close to a decade. The girls, who are now 10 and 13, love the island, especially hours in the pool followed by a golf cart ride to get ice cream at the Pink Pony.
“Boca Grande is such a special place and we feel blessed to able to come here. The kids honestly consider it a ‘second ʻhomeʼ and it also gives us an opportunity to spend quality time with my wifeʼs great aunt, Rosemary Bowler,” said Fone.
