‘Way of the Cross,’ Easter services outlined

Local churches will be hosting Easter services next week, including the traditional “Way of the Cross” Walk.

At the Boca Grande Lighthouse United Methodist Church the Easter schedule will include Holy Maundy on Thursday, April 5 with a Healing/Prayer and Anointing service at 7 to 7:30 p.m. It will be followed by the Last Supper Holy Communion Service from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. On Good Friday, April 6, the ‘Stations of the Cross’ through the streets of Boca Grande will start at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at noon.

On Easter Sunday, April 8, The Ecumenical Easter Sunrise at Gasparilla Pass will be from 7 to 7:30 a.m. Regular Easter Services at the Methodist Church will be at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

At Our Lady of Mercy the Easter Schedule is as follows: Community Way of the Cross on Good Friday, April 6 from noon to 1 p.m. beginning at Our Lady of Mercy Church; Holy Thursday, April 5, Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 5 p.m.; Good Friday, April 6, Liturgy at 3 p.m.; Holy Saturday, April 7, Solemn Easter Vigil at 8 p.m.; Easter Sunday, April 8, masses at 8, 9, 10 and 11 a.m.

St. Andrew’s Easter: Morning prayer at 8 a.m., Monday through Friday; Maundy Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m. with the Holy Eucharist; Good Friday, April 6, Stations of the Cross at 12 p.m., starting at Our Lady of Mercy; St. Andrew’s Veneration of the Cross at 1:15 p.m., including distribution from the Reserved Sacrament; Holy Saturday, April 7, Easter Vigil at 8 p.m.; Easter Sunday, April 8, Holy Eucharist with choir and trumpet at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

The Boca Grande Baptist Church will participate in the Way of the Cross on Good Friday as well, with normally-scheduled church services on Easter Sunday.
