
So far, 23 boats have been confirmed for the World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament, and entries are still coming in.
According to Lew Hastings, executive director of the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce, teams from all over the country have expressed interest in the tournament.
Observers are still needed for the World’s Richest. The dates have been set for the 2012 World’s Richest Tarpon Tournament Official Observer Training Certification.
Observers are required to attend at least one free training session to qualify to be assigned a vessel during the tournament.
The two dates scheduled for training certification are:
• Saturday, April 21 at 10 a.m. at the Boca Grande Community Center auditorium
• Tuesday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m., also at the Boca Grande Community Center in the Woman’s Club Room.
Training certification is expected to last approximately two hours.

Hastings will be sitting in on the WENG talk show “The Boating Life” with Capt. Tom Healey on Saturday, April 7 at 8 a.m. They will be discussing the “Silver King Weekend” in Boca Grande.
Hastings also said that so far 30 people have entered the Ladies Day poster contest to name the frisky tarpon painting by Brendan Coudal. The winner will receive the first edition of that series. Entries are due by April 30.
