Dr. Wright takes a healthy swing while his teammates look on.

Reports that Hank Wright is finished playing golf are highly exaggerated. The good doctor was on the links Friday, April 13 to compete with the “Wright Team” at the Lemon Bay Golf Course in the 20th Annual Hank Wright Golf Tournament.

More than $170,000 was raised for the clinic at the event this year.

The tournament, which benefits the Boca Grande Health Clinic, has always been a popular venue. This year the Low Gross winning team included Flip Templeton, Jenny Templeton, Emma Ward, Tom Ward and Libby Frazier. Low Net winners were Bill Beuttin, Laurie Doogie, Yvonne Anderson, Jim Barany and Kevin Reynolds.

John and Carolyn Sielert of Punta Gorda were the winners of the Fiat that was raffled off. Hank pulled out ticket #0071, which was the only ticket John had purchased.

John also happens to be the CEO of the Boca Grande Health Clinic so we might continue to see the car around town – sans the “win me” signs of course.

There were 65 silent auction items and eight live auction items, including a trip to Beaver Creek, Colo., an opera dinner at a private home in Boca, a barbecue cook-off, books autographed by Boca Grande authors and a flying experience in a military training plane, donated by Coral Creek Airport.
