Island kids graduate, make Dean's List

 

Several Boca Grande youth are beginning to make their way in the adult world, and have graduated.

Peter Humbarger, 18, graduated from Lemon Bay High School and will be heading to UCLA, majoring in molecular biology. Olivia Humbarger, 20, graduated from Brown University in Providence, R.I. with a major in neuroscience. She will be working at Harvard and researching a cure for ALS at Massachusetts General. She scored 99.9 percent on her 2011 MCAT tests, and will be attending medical school next year. Kate Humbarger, 22, graduated from FSU with majors in English, Communications and Editing and Writing for Media. She will be working for the Melitta Corporation.View More images >>

Parker O’Bannon, son of Capt. Phil and Mary O’Bannon, has graduated from Lemon Bay High School. He lettered in football all four years, and received the Silver Cord for 150 or more community service hours. He will attend Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga. and will major in Wildlife and Natural Resource Management.

Also, Sarah Steffan of Boca Grande has been named to Berry College’s Dean’s List for the spring, 2012 semester. Sarah is the daughter of Angela and Dr. Michael Steffan, (Medical Director of the Boca Grande Health Clinic).

To be eligible for Dean's List, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better.
