Ginger Watkins, George Baker and Gay Darsie will be joining the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority board later in the year. They are all running unopposed in the November 6 election.
For Watkins, an incumbent, this will be her second term on the board. Baker has served on the GIBA board before. This is Darsie’s first time around in dealing with bridge action, though.
Baker and Darsie will be taking the place of Jerry Lusk, GIBA’s former chairman, and Dick Ryan.
Watkins will retain Seat 1, Baker will run for Seat 3 and Darsie will run under Seat 5.
As of the this fall’s general election date on November 6, each of the three GIBA board members will become officially “elected” and they will each be serving a full four-year term of office until the general election in 2016.
Per the GIBA Charter, all newly-elected voting GIBA Board members officially take office and are sworn in by the GIBA Counsel on Nov. 15 at the GIBA quarterly board meeting.
