Voting change deadline nearing for primary

a9b079655ee76fc72214684a0af0351a.jpgThe last day to register to vote or change party affiliation for this year’s August 13 primary is Monday, July 16.

After that day the registration books are closed, and changes will only apply to subsequent elections.

Because Florida is a “closed primary” state, you must vote with the party chosen on your voter registration in the primary.

The only time that changes is when all candidates for one office have the same party affiliation, and the winner will not face opposition in the general election.

In that case, all eligible registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, could vote in the primary.

Head to your nearest Supervisor of Election office, driver’s license office or public library, or go to leeelections.com or charlottevotes.com.
