Turtle season continues to impress

BY LIZA STROUT - The latest numbers from the Coastal Wildlife Club, which monitors sea turtle nesting activity on local beaches, show that this year’s crop of baby turtles is still on pace to finish well ahead of last year’s numbers.

On Gasparilla Island, there are 373 known nests so far this year, compared to 311 for all of 2011.
