The Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call late Tuesday night from an island resident. Mr. Gerald Weir called to report that a black lockbox, which contained a gold and diamond ring, a high school ring, cash and several important documents, was missing from his home on Pilot St.
The lockbox was kept in the top drawer of a night stand, and when Mr. Weir went to retrieve it, it was missing. He had last seen it the evening before.
Nothing else in the residence was disturbed.
Vacationers renting the upper level of the home reported that they had not seen or heard anything unusual that day.
