The Boca Grande Community Center is looking for volunteers to help with the Gasparilla Island 4 Mile Run & Fun Walk on Saturday, Sept. 22. Volunteers are needed from 6:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to help as course monitors.
The course monitors will direct runners throughout the course. No experience is necessary, just some encouragement and pointing them in the correct direction.
If you're interested in helping to make the race a big success, please call Joe Wier or Bob Green at 964-2564.
Also, the Boca Grande Community Center wants the community to please share the road with runners and walkers on the morning of the run, which starts at 7:30 a.m. It will begin on Gilchrist Avenue just south of Banyan Street and will head north. Runners will make a right on 5th Street, left onto the bike path and turn into Boca Grande Isles to the northern tip. Runners will return nearly the same route back to the finish line on Banyan Street.
