Chief C.W. Blosser of the Boca Grande Fire Department checked into the matter with Lee County emergency services. He was told that one MEDSTAR flight, which occurred on May 12 of this year, was a refundable flight.
A second flight to the island, which occurred in June, was also a problem but the patient was not charged.
The helicopter service was shut down in August. It was later discovered that $3 million worth of services were improperly billed.
