STAFF REPORT - The Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce Halloween Walk will be held on Halloween night beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Streets will not be blocked off, so trick-or-treaters must take extra care when crossing streets. Area businesses will be participating.
On Saturday, Oct. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. the Friends of the Boca Grande Community Center and Lee County Parks and Recreation Halloween Carnival will be held.
The carnival will start off with a costume contest at 2 p.m. at the Boca Grande Community Center.
The age groups will be 0-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12 and, of course, the Family/Group division.
Registration will take place in front of the outside stage from 1:30 p.m. to 1:50 p.m.
Following the costume contest everyone is invited to participate in homemade carnival games, dunking Sergeant Corkhill in the dunk tank, taking a chance in the cake walk or enjoying carnival treats.
Wristbands will be sold for $5 for the games and tickets can be purchased for food and the cakewalk.
This year all participating families have been asked to donate one or more bags of individually-wrapped soft candy per child. Please drop them off no later than Monday, Oct. 22.
The cake walk will be held under the pavilion at the community center. All cake donations must be dropped off on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to staff the game booths, sell tickets, pass out food, and help out with overall preparations of the carnival. If you would like to volunteer or donate a cake, call the Community Center at 964-2564.
