STAFF REPORT - Activity for the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority is heating up beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 30 with a swing bridge workshop in the Boca Grande Community Center Auditorium from 1 to 3 p.m.
Island residents are invited to attend and listen to a presentation from the new swing bridge designers, and to ask any questions they might have.
On the following day, Wednesday, Oct. 31, bids for the swing bridge construction job and the swing bridge engineering service job will be opened. That meeting will be held at 9 a.m. in the GIBA Administrative Building on the Boca Grande Causeway. No action will be taken at that meeting other than to open the bids.
At the September bid meeting six companies showed up to throw their hats in the ring for the job. The project is estimated to cost $22 million, and will be the final step in replacing the bridges of the Boca Grande Causeway.
