National Theatre Live, brought to the island by The Friends of the Boca Grande Community Center, is returning on Monday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. with “Timon of Athens” by William Shakespeare.

Simon Russell Beale takes the title role in Shakespeare’s strange fable of consumption, debt and ruin, written in collaboration with Thomas Middleton.

The cost for tickets is $20.

On Monday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. “Barrymore” featuring Christopher Plummer will continue the NTL performance schedule.

This is an unforgettable portrayal of legendary actor John Barrymore, a man of colossal talent and contradictions and one of the greatest Shakespearean actors of all time. Set in 1942, the final year of John Barrymore's life, “Barrymore” takes place on the stage of a Broadway theatre, where the actor is struggling to recreate his performance in the title role of Shakespeare’s “Richard III.”

Directed, and adapted for the screen, by Érik Canuel (Bon Cop, Bad Cop), “Barrymore” stars Christopher Plummer in the tour de force film performance of his career.

Tickets for this performance are also $20.

National Theatre Live is an initiative by the UK’s National Theatre to broadcast live performances onto cinema screens around the world. Since its first season, which began in June 2009 with the acclaimed production of “Phédre” starring Helen Mirren, over 750,000 people have now experienced the National’s work on movie screens worldwide.

NTL and Friends are working with PJ’s Seagrille in a program called “Dining Partners.” On performance night, enjoy an appetizer on the house when you order dinner for two at PJ’s Seagrille. Patrons must show a ticket stub or receipt for the performance and reservations are recommended.

PJ’s dining room opens at 5:30 p.m. for dinner every day except Sunday and the bar, Fishtales, opens at 4 p.m. for cocktails and light fare until 5:30 p.m.

Temptation Restaurant is also participating in the program. Enjoy Old Florida style and take 10 percent off the dinner bill at Temptation Restaurant on performance night of National Theatre Live. Patrons must show a ticket stub or receipt for the performance and reservations are recommended.

The Temp opens at 10 a.m. and closes at midnight Monday through Saturday; they are closed Sunday.  Dinner service begins at 6 p.m.
