Return to the Everglades with Wini Smart

The Smart Studio is showing new paintings by Wini Smart titled, “Return to The Everglades.” This was the artist’s fifth painting trip to the Florida Everglades.

Wini likes to go in December when the mosquito season is over. She stays in Everglade City and each day drives out to a new painting area. She says that there is much quiet beauty in the Glades: the wide open space, the rich vegetation, the abundant wildlife, and always a wonderful sky. By staying several days she can get to see the area in its many moods. By sitting quietly one can hear as well as see the wonder that is there.

In the case of “Silent Swimmer,” I sat on a dock so thought I was safe. But another time I found there was one only a foot away behind a bush. After that I was more careful. Fortunately he wasn’t hungry says Wini Smart. The exhibit will be on display through this Sunday, Feb. 3. Call the gallery for additional information 964-0519.
