The dance floor was packed under the tent on Saturday, Feb. 2 as the Boca Grande Historial Society held their first Bayou Blast ... and it may not be the last.

More than 300 meals were served, and the performance from the Pineleaf Boys had everyone out of their seats and swarming the dance floor.

View More images >>Tim Dumas, an islander with just a little bit of a connection to “Nawlin’s”-style cuisine, did the cooking. He served up three different types of gumbo, and it has been said that the potato salad was “to die for.”

“It was such a great event, we nailed it,” Dumas said. “It was a whole lot of food to cook, but I had help with chopping and prepping. Even so, it was such a fun time.”

While the final numbers aren’t in yet, Historical Society representatives said this was one of the most profitable, and well attended, functions they have ever had.

Rumor has it that a similar soiree may be in store for next year, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
