“It’s hard to exemplify the most famous man ever,” said Wyatt, but “Jesus’ message was love and acceptance.”
And that message is deeply personal for him.
“I talk to God like I talk to a friend,” he continued. “I wouldn’t give myself a denomination. I just love Jesus.”
But he admits that it’s easy to lose sight of spirituality among the responsibilities, routines and distractions that present themselves every day.
Wyatt has been part of the dual enrollment program at Edison Collegiate High School and Edison State College for two years, and as his last year of high school ends, he will have earned an Associate’s degree along with his high school diploma. Add to that an impressive list of artistic accomplishments and the result is a lot of different tasks vying for time, all at once.
“Being so busy has been a little bit rough on my faith,” said Wyatt. “I get distant. You’re on a different track and then you kind of get these ‘slap in the face’ moments.”
What did he take away from those moments?
“I clearly need to be closer,” he said.
Of course, Wyatt has reasons for performing, other than the opportunity to grow his faith along with his character and give back to the community.
“It’s my senior year. It’s my last big hurrah before I leave,” he explained.
Wyatt hopes to attend the University of Florida or the University of Central Florida this fall. Though it might seem like an obvious choice, he says a career in performance or in art school would be wrong for him. He prefers to work only when he’s inspired.
Rather, he wants to major in international marketing and possibly fashion, or become an entrepreneur. He is drawn to the fashion industry. View More images >>
Wyatt will be starring in the Royal Palm Players' production of "Godspell," which begins in March.
