The Boca Grande Child Care Center provides a service that many families who work and live on the island would be lost without. All children from the ages of 1 to 4 are welcome, and the excellent care that is provided there can be attested to by many parents.

The center operates on private donations, and their annual fundraiser this year, titled “Kids in Kandyland,” is just around the corner on Monday, March 18. It will be held at the Boca Grande Club at 6 p.m. and will begin with cocktails and silent auction items, followed by dinner and a live auction.

The cost is $150 per person.

Live auction items this year include some spectacular things:View More images >>

• Cocktails and a buffet for 30 hosted by Carol and Jerry Miller at their hacienda. As Jerry says, “No theme - no music - just good food, good friends and good fun.” The date can be mutually agreed upon later.
• Prairie Edge Studio in Rapid City, South Dakota has generously given a very unique and valuable piece of art by Chris Robert - Antieau. It is a large fabric painting titled, “Count your Blessings,” in a handcrafted frame. There are nine individual “Blessings” among which are family, home, freedom, fun and friends.
• Penthouse seats with a view of the finish line and pits at the Indianapolis 500 for four. This year’s race is May 26, or you can wait until next year’s race, May 25, 2014.
• An authentic six-course Italian dinner for 12 with wine at the villa of Julie O’Donnell. The “line chefs” will include Padre Gerolamo Carosella, Giorgio Castrucci, Luigi Fuszini and Benito Scotto.
• How about an evening with Abraham Lincoln? Gene Greissman, one of the most-renowned impersonators of Abraham can speak to you and your friends and family at the Boca Grande Club on Monday, April 8. Only 80 seats are available for the performance. Debbie and Ted Lilly, Ginny and Pete Nicholas and Joan and John Hillebrand will make it possible.

Dinner at the “Kandyland” event will be complimentary for those who wish to be a sponsor. Platinum patron sponsorships are $5,000, Gold Sponsorships are $1,000 and Silver Patron Sponsorships are $500.
