It’s that time of year again ... time to lock up your fishing gear and stay extra-attentive on the roadways.
On Saturday, Feb. 23 Lee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Inn Marina on 8th Street after the theft of fishing equipment was reported.

According to reports, contact was made with the complainant who said that at some point within the last 24 hours, items including Penn fishing reels, an Okuma bait caster, Ugly Stick fishing pole and Intracoastal fishing poles disappeared.

The complainant said the equipment was left in the open near the left gunwale.

Also on Saturday, deputies responded to a residence on First Street in reference to the report of a Yeti cooler and titanium fishing pliers stolen from a dock.

On Wednesday, Feb. 27 deputies and fire department personnel responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Gasparilla Road and Seventh Street at 4:20 p.m.

According to reports, a white Chevrolet Impala four-door was pulling out of Seventh Street and T-boned a black Hyundai Santa Fe.

There were no injuries, but a citation was issued to the driver of the Impala.
