If you have a child, or multiple children, who want to attend any of the children’s programs sponsored through Boca Grande Community Center but you need a little financial help, the Dee Wheeler Scholarship program is here for you.

The Munchkins preschool program, the after school program and summer camp, in particular, have always been programs that Dee helped to create, and she feels very strongly they continue. Anyone who needs financial assistance in sending their children to these programs is welcome to apply.

When the Boca Grande Community Center became the heart of the island’s activity, Dee Wheeler was right there in the thick of it. As one of the founders of the Friends of the Boca Grande Community Center, with her help, countless programs have been initiated and children have been given opportunities they might never have had without her.

In her honor and in her name, the Friends of the Boca Grande Community Center established the Dee Wheeler Scholarship Fund. Scholarships from this fund are awarded, on basis of need, to students who live on the island or students whose parents work full-time on the island.

This year’s scholarship committee is seeking assistance from the community in achieving or exceeding their past monetary goals. The scholarships are awarded in the spring of every year. Please consider making a donation to the scholarship fund.
