This year’s 8th Annual Island Art Days will feature 18 artists displaying their wares in the parking lot next to Special Effects on Park Avenue on April 6 and 7.
Show times on Saturday and Sunday are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Artists include: Bob and Ruth Wessell, decorative and functional ceramics; Dana Krzewina, tropical style paintings; Rich Fizer, handblown glass sculptures; Carroll Swayze, graphic artist, painting and printmaking; Heather Kendall, elegant home accessories; Jim Sears, bronze sculptures and wood carvings; Linda Tilson, hand painted and hand sewn silk clothing; Linda Welch, contemporary and victorian style jewelry; Mel Landon, island-style paintings and furniture; Meredith Haws, elegant tribal jewelry; Sal Massulli, wildlife carvings; Scott Causey, electric fired ceramic animals; Teri Causey, mixed media storyboards; Jason Marien, fine jewelry in silver; Jeanne Palmer, pottery; Stu Hoeckel, copper and brass sculptures; Angie Mills, nautical themed jewelry in fine silver; Julie Salvetti, rare cultured pearl jewelry.
The work of these artists can also be seen inside Special Effects. The Gasparilla Island Conservation and Improvement Association will join forces with Italiano Insurance for an island-wide clean-up on Saturday, April 6 from 7:30 to 11 a.m. All volunteers will be provided with coffee, water and donuts. The Hudson’s Grocery Relay For Life team will be hard at work again on Sunday, April 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the park next to the store. Hamburgers, hot dogs and all things barbecued will be had there to raise money for the team.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will hold a jazz concert on Sunday, April 7 at 3 p.m. featuring “Jazz Juvenocracy.”
Jazz Juvenocracy is an all volunteer, 501c3, non-profit organization dedicated to jazz preservation and education. It is comprised of young men and women who play their music all over the world.
