This Saturday, April 13, the Cat in the Hat will make a visit to the Port Boca Grande Lighthouse for its program, Little Lights Toddler Time.
As Boca Grande is a favorite haunt of the very tall feline, visiting the lighthouse is a great pleasure for him.
The program will be held at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited.

The cost to enter is $350 for a four-angler team.
A maritime art show and sale will also be featured at the marina.
All proceeds benefit the Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum.
In 2009, Carol Napoli and Becky Paterson started the Whidden’s Back Bay tournament to honor their friend and fishing buddy, Midge Callahan. Midge was a local artist who had a passion for a morning of back bay fishing. She was also a great supporter of the Gasparilla Island Maritime Museum at Whidden’s Marina, so it was natural that the tournament be for the benefit of that island institution.
In 2012 the tournament became a time to honor another island treasure, Barbara Whidden Chatham, who grew up among the docks of Whidden’s Marina. Most days she could be found behind the desk of the Maritime Museum, which is housed in the old Red Gill Fish House building at the marina. Barbara was there to greet people who walked through the door, happy to share the fishing history of the island with anyone who was interested in learning. Barbara passed away last year.
Last year, there were 13 teams in the contest. Capt. Sandy Melvin and his team took first place, and second place was taken by Capt. Matt Coleman’s team.Becky Paterson took the top female angler spot, and Capt. Mark Liberman was the winning male angler. She also took a prize for “most spots on a redfish.”Caroline Clark won the “most unusual species” award with her unique flounder.
