Carroll Swayze’s 15th annual Art Adventure Camp is starting soon, and already Carroll has a lot of interest. The class, held at the Carroll Swayze Studio, 2373 Donovan Rd. in Englewood, will be held in four sessions that include everything from giant lizard painting to gyotaku.
Working in a real artist’s studio, each child will receive individual instruction in a wide variety of media’s, from fine crafts to painting, and take home some beautiful original art every day. Adventure Art Camp is available to all grade school and middle school students who are looking for a great art experience this summer.
There will be a morning session and an afternoon session with different medias taught in both. Parents who would like their children to stay for both the morning and afternoon sessions are encouraged to send a lunch. Parents may stay with their children if they wish.
The classes will be held as follows:
Session 1 (morning): June 18-21 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Printmaking fun, giant palm tree painting, chalk pastel fish drawing, coconut postcards, tie-dyeing shirts, fun with watercolors, beach collage and frame and rainforest frog drawing.
Session 2 (afternoon): June 18-21 1 - 5 p.m. How to draw big fish, hand-painted floor cloths, giant sea-gull painting, printing from nature, crazy fish hook wall hangings, watercolor pencil magic, painting a loggerhead turtle and crazy monster T-shirts.
Session 3 (morning): June 24-27 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Giant fish painting, drawing animals made easy, beach and bead jewelry, mural painting techniques, newspaper hat designing, chalk pastel beach scenes, plein aire painting, block printed T-shirts.
Session 4 (afternoon): June 24-27 1 - 5 p.m. Giant lizard painting, gyotaku (Japanese fish painting), block-printed greeting cards, chalk pastel bird drawing, stained glass window suncatchers, papier mache fish, water media basics, tropical diary design.
The cost is $100 per child per session.
Each child will need one or more packages of plain white T-shirts in your child’s size. All materials and a snack is included.
Each class is for mixed ages, grade school and middle school students.
