The Englewood Pop Warner Cheer Association has a goal, and that goal is to raise $5,000 to go to regional Cheer Competition in Orlando this Thanksgiving.
This month, the group is selling HoneyBaked Ham gift cards in the amounts of $10, $25, $35 and $50, and holiday pies from Publix Bakery. Apple, dutch apple and pumpkin pies are available, and each one is $6 including tax.
All orders must be in by Nov. 21, and pies will be given to cheerleaders on Nov. 23 for distribution.
Right now, the girls’ funds are low. If you would like to order, contact island resident Roselle Agles, whose daughter, Zoe, is part of the squad. She can be reached at (505) 470-8785 or at email@example.com.
It’s time to eat some spaghetti, and spaghetti dog is ready! He’s not at the Crowninshield just yet, but his first stop is in downtown Boca Grande.
For just $10, you can get all the spaghetti, garden salad, garlic bread, soft drinks, tea or lemonade you can eat or drink at the Loose Caboose on Friday, Nov. 15 between 5 and 8 p.m.
All money raised will be used for the medical and maintenance costs for the Boudreau rescue dogs. So far, Blanche and Jacques have spent approximately $10,000 on the medical needs of their foster dogs. If you would like to make a private donation, you can call Blanche at (941) 421-2805.

This week the collection barrels were placed around the island for the fall food drive to aid the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
The need for food is at an all-time high, as they are distributing approximately 50,000 pounds of food a day.
Collection barrels can be found at the post office, the Barnichol, Sea Oats and Kappy’s Market, as well as at the Methodist Church.
