Lighthouse Day, Civil War week, Bag Day on this week’s schedule

Governor Rick Scott has declared Saturday, April 20, 2013, to be Florida Lighthouse Day. The Historic Port Boca Grande Lighthouse and Museum will be celebrating the event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with arts, crafts and activities for kids, gifts, cake and drinks for everyone.

Cars continue to be burgled at area beach locations

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has reported two incidents of “smash-and-grab” type thefts that occurred in Boca Grande on Monday, April 15.

Fust Library transformation almost complete ... are you ready?

BY ALICE GORMAN - The dictionary defines “transformation” as “a marked change, as in appearance or character, usually for the better.” Those words perfectly describe the building and renovation project that has taken place at the Johann Fust Library over the past year. Through the perseverance of the board of directors and the cooperation of Lee County and the generosity of so many residents of Boca Grande, an idea that began as a dream several years ago is a living reality today.
