We may have never known what that experience was like for him, save for the fact that Patti Middleton managed to save a hardback book from a garbage pile.
BY JACK SHORT - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has riled some folks on the north side of the island with a string of non-compliance enforcements. Thirteen residents with homes on the south side of Gasparilla Pass were told by the DEP within the last three or four months that their docks were not compliant with Florida statutes regarding dock area and size.
BY JACK SHORT - The Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority held two brief meetings Wed., December 4 to approve a long term loan for part of their bridge financing, and to come to some agreement about how they’d rewrite their employee manual.
BY MARCY SHORTUSE - The guys at the Boca Grande Fire Department are polishing and sanding some deep indentations on their front door. Why, do you ask? Because the ladies of Boca Grande who put those scratchmarks there are now sated ... the 2014 Boca Grande Fire Department calendar is here.
After a hiatus from calendar-making for a few years, the department has released its 2014 edition which will include Pat Bigness, Dave LeClercq, Patrick O’Connor and Jeff Knowles.The cost is $15, or $20 if you need it mailed.
Call the fire department at 964-2908 or stop by Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 p.m. to pick one up, and support the Boca Grande Firefighters’ Benevolent Fund.
The fire department also has some of their breast cancer awareness T-shirts in stock and for sale, which make great Christmas gifts.
Let it not be said that Boca Grande Thanksgiving visitors don’t know how to have fun. These kids from Tampa – Megan and Chase Delmissier and Morgan and Nicholas Alexander – were out spreading the turkey love on Monday. It was a day of just driving around, hanging out in full turkey garb, waving their drumsticks in the air like they just didn’t care.
