Lincoln visits Boca Grande

The Gasparilla Inn Beach Club played host to President Abraham Lincoln, or a reasonable facsimile there of, last Saturday, April 6. Dr. Gene Griessman, author of the books “Time Tactics of Very Successful People” and “The Words Lincoln Lived By,” brought the 16th president to life, using words that Lincoln spoke and might have said.

BY MARCY SHORTUSE - A change of plans within the Lee County Parks & Recreation offices has ultimately led to the island’s good fortune. While “Boca” Bob Green is going to be away from his island post several days a week, “Jungle” Joe Wier will be staying.

New president, new logo unveiled at GICIA meeting

BY LIZA STROUT - Andy Ireland presided over his last GICIA Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 3, at least as president and a member of the board. Afterward, he handed the reins over to the new GICIA president, Bayne Stevenson.
