BY LIZA STROUT - On Monday, Jan. 28 the Boca Grande Historical Society will be hosting author, speaker and entrepreneur Elizabeth Hunter Coursen.
“Having Fun, Wish You Were Here! An Illustrated History of the Postcard in Florida,” is a program by the Sarasota resident, using museum-quality vintage postcard images to portray Florida’s growth in the first half of the 20th century.
Coral Creek Club has earned the distinction of being ranked as number seventeen among the best golf courses in the state of Florida.
Golf Digest recently released their 2012-2013 state-by-state rankings, placing Coral Creek in the elite company of courses such as Seminole, Jupiter Hills and Pablo Creek. Coral Creek Club is the only golf course in Charlotte County and the surrounding counties of Lee, Glades, DeSoto and Sarasota to be ranked among the top 30 in the state of Florida.
Boca Grande’s Food for the Poor Directors headed to Haiti this past week to visit Friendship Villages I and II, and to visit the new site for Friendship Village III.
On January 12, Cecilia Jonsson- Bisset was the happy recipient of the ‘Excellence in Watercolor’ award for her miniature “Sunrise” at Art Center Manatee.
The show is titled “Art In A Minor Key” and features about 80 small, two dimensional works. It will be on exhibit until Friday, February 1. The art center is located on 9th St. W. in Bradenton.
