Letter to the Editor: Community spirit alive and well at book sale

To the Editor:

We would like to thank all of the people who made Saturday, March 17 such a wonderful and prosperous day for the Johann Fust Community Library.

The Boca Grande Womans Club generously offered us the use of their room at the annual fair, including the signs and other supplies. The Park and Recreation Department set up all the tables, disassembled them at the end and even bailed us out when we locked ourselves out of the kitchen where all the money was!

The Friends of the Community Center were always on hand to encourage us on and lend a hand. Publix gave us lots of paper and plastic bags and just as we were about to box up all the leftover books, the Lemon Bay athletes offered to fill the cartons and ready them for pickup by Habitat for Humanity.

The volunteers from the Fust Library and the Boca Grande Womans Club were happy, helpful and enthusiastic. It would have been impossible to accomplish so much in such a short time without all of you. We can’t thank you enough for the total cooperation.

What a wonderful example of community spirit.
