Letter to the Editor: Thanks given for Island School faculty help on Veteran’s Day

To the Editor,

Please join us in sending a big THANK YOU to the Island School, and specifically Jean Thompson, head of school, for helping the Friends of Boca Grande Community Center to provide after school care on Veteran’s Day.  

The Community Center was closed in observation of Veteran’s Day, and without any Lee County staff available in case of emergency, the After School Program was scheduled to be closed. However when we discovered that The Island School was open for student instruction on that day, the Friends of Boca Grande Community Center asked the school for help. Twenty-three children attended after school on Monday because the Island School staff went beyond the call of duty.
