| Mary Alice King |
She was born in Tampa on May 30, 1933 to the late Carlos and Florinda Escalante. She is survived by: Her three daughters, Georgette Hassler, Lisa King and Andrea King; cousins Elaine Fernandez and Debbie (Jim) Wolfe and their son, Jack; the children and grandchildren of Carlos Escalante.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Logan King, son William Logan King, brothers William Cartaya and Carlos Cartaya Escalante and aunt Marie Escalante Fernandez.
As the Boca Beacon so artfully printed, she truly was a gentle soul. All who met her recognized her kind and loving spirit. Her selfless manner and humble countenance were constantly exhibited in her works, her actions and through her interactions with others. She chose a simple life after the death of her husband and son, and she found comfort living on the island that they loved so much.
She will always be greatly loved and missed by her girls and all those who knew her.
A memorial and celebration of her life will be held at the Crowninshield Community House on Saturday, June 2 at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited.
